Hongwanji Mission School

Hongwanji Mission School (HMS) is an accredited independent school located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Established in 1949, HMS is the first Buddhist school outside of Japan, with a mission and philosophy rooted in Buddhist teachings and values. The school offers a comprehensive academic program from preschool through eighth grade, providing individualized attention and a range of extracurricular activities for its approximately 400 students.
