Question 1

What is LASIK?

Accepted Answer

LASIK is a laser eye surgery procedure that can correct vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It involves using a specialized laser to reshape the cornea, the clear front part of the eye, to improve its focusing power.

Question 2

What can I expect after LASIK?

Accepted Answer

After LASIK surgery, most patients experience improved vision within a day or two. However, it's common to have some temporary side effects like dry eyes, light sensitivity, or mild discomfort for the first few days. These typically subside within a week or two as the eyes heal.

Question 3

Who is a good candidate for LASIK?

Accepted Answer

LASIK is generally suitable for individuals with a stable prescription, healthy eyes, and realistic expectations. Factors like age, corneal thickness, and the degree of refractive error are considered to determine if someone is a good candidate.

Question 4

What are the LASIK alternatives?

Accepted Answer

For those not suitable for LASIK, there are other vision correction options available, such as PRK, ICL (implantable contact lenses), and refractive lens exchange. Your eye doctor can help determine the best approach based on your individual needs and circumstances.

Question 5

How can I finance my LASIK procedure?

Accepted Answer

Vermont Laser Vision offers various financing options to make LASIK more accessible. These may include payment plans, flexible spending accounts, and medical financing through third-party providers. The team can discuss the available options to find the best solution for your budget.
