Board of Overseers of the Bar

The Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar is an independent agency under the jurisdiction of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, created in 1978 to govern the conduct of lawyers and promote competent and ethical legal practice in the state. The board's mission is to ensure the public's confidence in the legal profession through attorney registration, continuing legal education, ethical guidance, and attorney regulation.
